Three days in Milan

This morning I had to go to the US Consulate in Milan to get the visa. I’m in Milan since Wednesday, hosted by Max Stucchi.
On Wednesday night, GUFIPizza took place: it’s the monthly meeting of the GUFI (FreeBSD Italian Users Group) members who live near Milan. Since I was there, other members who don’t usually [...]

Calver Liver with onions, Venetian style, and white figs

4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
8 onions, very thinly sliced
Salt
1 pound calves liver, thinly sliced
1/3 cup red wine
8 little white figs, sliced in quarters
Heat the olive oil in a large, heavy saute pan over a medium flame. Add the onions and cook them over low heat until they are very soft but not too colored.
Salt the [...]

Drops of thoughts

Randomly chosen and thought about things I put on my “what to change in my life” list:

What
Why

Start drinking tea for breakfast
I like tea and I suppose it’s healthier than coffee. But is it?

Practice some kind of physical activity on a daily basis
I’m fat. Uh.

Begin developing my own BW films
Amateur photographers must develop their own [...]

Authors

Italian literature from the period 1944-1960 is full of treasures mostly unknown to the majority of Italians.
Vittorini, Fenoglio, Gadda, Calvino: they’re all masters.

The big jump

These days I caught myself thinking about my life in the States for eight months. Many aspects of it are going to change with new ones coming in and old ones going away. Will I miss them?
At the beginning of Pulp Fiction, Vincent Vega says:”But you know what the funniest thing about Europe is?” and [...]

Back in town

To relax. Alone with myself. Mission Impossible.
“…and now, why are you so good in making me going crazy? …” (Me, just now)

Fully Empty

Exams never end? False! I finished my exams on July 9th and I’m ready to go to Brown University in October. Yes, I’m excited.
But.
But once you’re done with your duty and you should be light and happy like fresh air, that’s the time when deep feelings come out. Life is not only about your [...]

LaChapelle’s Books

I’m an Andy Warhol fan and a photography hobbyist. Add to these facts the consideration that I love Dalì and would really like to see a revival of baroque and rococo mixed with pop culture and you’ll understand why I’d love to get David Lachapelle’s Heaven to Hell. Yes, I’d like Artists and Prostitutes too, [...]

Write the way you eat

I announced it before, more than one and half year ago, but now it’s real: my blog becomes bilingual: English and Italian (no, I’m not going to translate every post in both languages: it only means that I will seldom post in Italian).
For you, English readers, you can subscribe to the English category RSS feed.
I [...]

Lost twin found!

I found my lost twin. It’s Seth Rogen. Thanks goes to Fontzy for having pointed this out to me and for the image below. Oh gosh, I should now watch all Seth’s movies! =)

But yesterday I had my beard and hair cut…
