Goals

Here we are again: the {end of | new} year post on what I achieved in the past year and what I want to accomplish in the coming one. 2009 edition is here: Drops of goals.

Of the goals listed for 2009 in the linked post, I manage to achieve the following:

  1. My thesis was not so bad. I am almost satisfied with it, although the paper is not ready yet :(
  2. I’m a Ph.D. student at Brown University and will hopefully advance to candidacy by the end of the academic year.
  3. I wrote a lot of code during the past year, but it was mostly for experiments on my research work or for course projects. I think my partecipation to the FreeBSD project can be improved and have some plans about it.
  4. I like my posts and other people seem to like them too, from what I can tell from the comments. Thanks everyone.
  5. Eventually, thanks to AS220, I learned how to develop and print my black and white films. I still have a lot to learn but at least I know the basis and can and do develop and print on my own. Yay!
  6. I didn’t read much, if at all, from my Books’ whishlist, but I read a lot of books anyway. A book I really liked (and read twice) is “American Gods” by Neil Gaiman.
  7. Last, but most important for me, the relationship I was referring to was “finalized” in the best possible way. I will not give any additional details. Who knows about it, knows about it. Who doesn’t, won’t.

Some goals for 2010:

  1. Get a paper published
  2. Complete my coursework, do good research, and advance to candidacy
  3. Lose weight. My girlfriend and my family made me promise that I will lose at least 10 Kilos. More is better. I’ll try hard.
  4. Improve my photographic skills, from capture to development to printing.
  5. It seems to always come last in the list but it is the first in my heart and head: further develop my relationship with Marta.

That’s all for now. See you next year. =)
