On Saturday afternoon my mobile rang and I was surprised to read “Ambrogio” on the monitor. He’s the father of my closest friend Giacomo, who is studying in Oxford. Ambrogio told me that Giacomo was flying back to Italy and invited my to go to the airport with him to pick Giacomo up. As a side note, he told me that the next day, the last race of the sailing season would have taken place and I could join them on their sailboat “Ebbrezza II”.
I didn’t think about it twice and accepted the invitation. What followed is easy to tell: nice evening, interesting discussions, funny cards playing. We went to bed at 3.30am and we had to wake up at 7.00 to reach the starting line of the race. Anyway, we managed to be on the line on time. The wind was too light for our heavy boat. It was cold or better, freezy but sailing is always fun. Great day.
